It also offers tuition and supervision in many areas of social history, where staff specialisms include gender and women's history since the eighteenth century, twentieth-century labour history, Holocaust studies, issues of race and ethnicity (Afro-German, German- Jewish and Gypsy studies), and the development of East and West Germany since 1945. The University Library's Special Collections include uniquely rich holdings on German and European Gypsy studies. Research contacts exist with numerous universities and institutes in Germany and the United States.

Entry Requirements
Research degree entry requirements: applicants should have a 2.i undergraduate degree or a Masters degree in the relevant field of study. The application should include an outline of the proposed research topic and prospective students are encouraged to contact a possible supervisor. A typical requirement is an IELTS score of 6.5; TOEFL paper-based score of 570; TOEFL computer based score of 230; TOEFL internet-based score of 88-89; or GCSE grade C.
