Course info
The programme, formerly entitled 'Recent Environmental Change' is focused on understanding those processes, both natural and anthropogenic, which have contributed to contemporary environmental problems and which threaten to transform our environment. Emphasis is placed on techniques for reconstructing recent environmental change, methods of contemporary monitoring and providing the context for predicted possible future consequences. This programme has a strong practical component within which there is specialist training in a wide variety of field and laboratory techniques. For a Diploma, students will complete and be assessed on eight months of coursework. For the MSc, an additional four months will be spent preparing and submitting a dissertation based either on a research project or a placement with an appropriate institution.

Entry Requirements
For all taught and research degree programmes the typical minimum entry requirement is a Bachelors degree (with Honours) at 2:ii level or better and in an appropriate field of study. Equivalent overseas degrees together with an acceptable English language qualification are also accepted. Individual consideration is given to mature students with significant and relevant experience and with professional qualifications.
