Course info
This programme combines understanding of the communicative and creative potential of the Media and Popular Music, with knowledge of the cultural industries. You will be introduced to a range of approaches for analysing and assessing media and musical texts and their production contexts. The syllabus offers the opportunity for in-depth work through pursuing particular strands of study such as the moving image or musical cultures. You will take half your studies in each area with integration clustering around specific modules in the first and third years. Examples of Communication modules include the Human Voice, Hollywood Cinema and Current Issues in British Film and TV Drama. Examples of Popular Music modules include Music in Daily Life, Music and Print Media, and Music Business. You may select either a special project or dissertation module and complete a piece of sustained, original work on a topic of your choice.
