Course info
This work is supported by DEFRA, the British Council, Commonwealth Universities and the pharmaceutical industry. The group examines the mechanisms and genetics of b-lactamases, the epidemiology of plasmid-encoded antibiotic resistance in developing countries and the inter-relationship of antibiotic resistance in human and animal enteric flora. This work involves close collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Science and partners in Bangladesh, Kenya, Pakistan, Sudan and the Philippines.

Entry Requirements
We can accept up to five students each year for postgraduate training by research to MPhil or PhD level. For entry to the programme you will need to have obtained a good Honours degree (2:i or above) in biological or biomedical sciences from a UK university, or a degree in Medicine or Veterinary Medicine or an international degree at an equivalent level.
