The academic staff of the Accounting and Finance Division are Professor P Taylor, Dr S Akbar, Dr K Bangassa Dr D Brookfield, Dr Ann Chan, Dr G Jobome, Mr P Ormrod, Dr Jannine Poletti-Hughes and Dr Shifei Lisa Liu. Research in the Division includes work on financial contracting, including debt contracts and financial covenants; finance and financial markets in transition economies; financial reporting, including financial reporting in developing countries, and the impact of international accounting standards on EU companies; the value relevance of accounting information, including information on intangibles; accounting conversatism, earnings quality and firm valuation; reporting by bio-tech firms; corporate governance, including corporate governance in not-for-profit organisations; relative performance evaluation, cash compensation of boards of directors and R and D intensity; performance of investment trusts; and effects of intangible capital on firm performance. The research output from the Division has been increasingly recognised internationally, through publications in research journals and international conference presentations, and is supported by research grants from funding bodies such as the European Union (EU) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). The Division has close research links with the accountancy profession, banks and finance and capital market institutions.

Entry Requirements
Students must meet minimum English language requirements to enter the Management School. Students must offer one of the following English language qualifications: GCSE minimum grade C IELTS minimum 6.5 TOEFL minimum 570 (paper-based test) or 230 (computer-based test) TOEFL minimum 88-89 (internet-based test) O-Level minimum grade C Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English minimum grade C IB Standard Level English minimum grade 5.
