Assessment method
All MPhil and PhD students are required to complete a postgraduate Research Development Programme before they can submit their thesis. The programme offers a mixture of subject specific and generic research training, as well as a range of transferable skills. Masters and PhD students submit minimum length dissertations towards the end of their studies, and PhD students are subject to Viva examinations in the normal way.

Entry Requirements
Normally an Upper Second or First class degree or taught Masters degree from a UK university is required. For international students the equivalent to this is required. Applicants with research or similar experience at an appropriate level may be considered. Applicants must be competent in written and spoken English. IELTS Academic of 6.0 including 6.0 in reading and in writing is required of international students.
